Hazardous Materials training

Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) present an ever increasing threat to the general public and rescue workers. In today's science and technology driven society new hazardous materials are produced all the time. Often the general public are not aware of the specific danger consumer goods can represent and all of us expect the equipment and facilities we use on a daily level to be safe, also under extreme conditions. When things go wrong, it takes specially trained emergency responders to swiftly identify the nature of the HAZMAT incident and to apply a suitable means of bringing the incident under control and limiting the impact on the environment.

Many employees in industrial and logistics operations encounter hazardous materials on a daily basis. Their safety and the safety of the operations is protected by a combination of advanced engineering controls, awareness training for all staff, specialist training for plant operators, the selected use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and capable rapid response teams who take on and bring under control any incident where HAZMAT plays a role and where the environmental impact needs to be limited.

At the IAFS we offer a full range of practical and theoretical training programmes to suit the level of knowledge and competency that is required for organisations and emergency responders.
